Gerald's world is created by a niece-uncle author illustrator pair whose storytelling and artwork bring this real-life guard donkey to life on every page.
Anna was born and raised in Krebs, Oklahoma. After graduating from McAlester High School, she attended Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications. In 2018, she married her husband and made her home in Love County in southern Oklahoma, where they are raising their two children.
Anna works in human resources at the Noble Research Institute and enjoys photography, traveling, and life on the ranch. Inspired by her children and the ranch around her, she teamed up with her uncle, David Prichard, to bring Gerald the Guard Donkey to life.

David Prichard
David is originally from Krebs, Oklahoma, and earned his degree in Arts in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. He began his career as an elementary school art teacher before joining the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer, detective, and police composite sketch artist. After retiring in 2016, he continues to stay connected to his Oklahoma roots through frequent visits with family and friends and of course, for the great Italian food.
